Meeting was called to order at 9:00am by President Mr. Bill Walters.
Present: Bill Walters, Betty Miller, Peggy Moeller- Mead, Julie Albright, Loretta Olson, John Hembree,
Jim Dobier, Ellen Ashcraft and Deea Emmons,
Agenda Item I. Secretary’s Report
· Minutes of February 5, 2009 Board meeting approved with corrections. Motioned by Betty
Miller, Seconded by John Hembree, all were in favor.
Agenda Item II. Treasurer’s Report
· $6,027.42 in checking as of 02/13/09 - Increase is due to Memberships
· Month end for January 2009 is $5,695.70
· Month end for December 2009 is $4,082.95.
· Preparing end of the year report and 990.
Agenda Item III. Committee Reports
· Golf Tournament – Need to form this year’s committee and begin the meetings

· March- East Mountain High School Principal
· April- Roosevelt Middle School Principal Cee Kaye Nation
· May-Credit Report by mortgage company
· June-Dr. Hembree
· July-East Mountain Garden Club
Old Business/New Business
a) Membership Trades – Wally from Independent is suggesting a full page for the year or two half
pages in trade for a chamber membership. The competing paper gives the Chamber’s a full
page every month and they participate in with the Golf Tournament.
b) Independent- President Walters will contact Wally from the Independent regarding the trade.
c) CNM East Mountains-Promote with the Tri-Chambers and local papers.
d) Village- Village of Tijeras is under the impression that the Chamber is charging rent which the
Chamber is not. The East Mountain Historical Society wanted to use the Chamber’s conference
room. When they contacted the Treasurer from the Village they were told to contact Julie

Albright. However, they are not Members so they must go through the Village. The Village
would like to re-key the building and give the Chamber two keys. This is the fifth or sixth time
the building has been re-keyed. The East Mountain Chamber holds last right of refusal and no
number of keys is called out in the agreement. It was decided the Chamber would meet with
the Village of Tijeras at a later date. Mayor suggested current Chamber building be expanded
for a Senior Center and the Chamber could use it. Meeting with Mayor possibly in April of
e) Vice President Olson has asked the Moriarty and Edgewood Chamber’s to attend today’s
meeting, she did not receive a response. Mrs. Moeller-Mead said it is the same people and the
same conversation; need to bring new information that provides value. Board discussed
meeting once per month for the networking meetings. Dr. Hembree would like Member’s to
explain more about their businesses, be more specific. Suggested activities other than the
network meeting (gave example of the Rail Runner Dinner networking event). Mr. Dobier
stated that the Chamber Member’s should focus on how we can help each in our businesses.
He suggested a tweaking of the Member Presentation. Mrs. Emmons suggested member’s
working together in groups at events giving something of value to increase the participation.
f) Dr. Hembree discussed the future Health Fair to be held at Roosevelt this summer showcasing
the local medical and health providers. Dr. Hembree will begin speaking with our local
providers to see what date will work.
g) February 24, 2009 the County is meeting to talk about funding the North Hwy 14 Sector Plan
from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The County is looking for input and Mrs. Barbour is coordinating this.
h) Forrest Service is asking for community input by written response by February 18, 2009.
i) Member of the Month – Hitch ‘n Post
j) Credit Card Charges- $100.00 transaction the fee was $25.40. President Walters will research on
other credit card processing providers.
k) Sam’s renewal - All agreed.
l) Lunch Meeting Caterer’s- Board discussed different local options.
m)Membership Chair- Mr. Dobier needs a copy of the Membership list.
