General Meeting Minutes
February 3, 2011
President Suzy Clay called the meeting to order at 11:50 am.
Board Members present were: Suzy Clay, Peggy Moeller-Mead, Bob Brittain, Linda Eaglefeather, and Paul Mendoza. Deea Emmons and David Saegart were absent.
New Member Presentation: Scheduled presenter, Tina Bagon of Kids Hardware Kompany was unable to attend due to severe weather conditions.
Current Member Presentation: Scheduled presenter, Rick Howe of Turquoise Trail Electric and Water, LLC was unable to attend due to severe weather conditions.
Guest Speaker: Lt Claire McCarthy, Bernalillo County Sheriff Department (BCSD), East Mountains Division
Lt McCarthy began her career with BCSD in 1987 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2006. She has worked in all area of the BCSD but mostly foot patrol, recruiting, training and prior to assuming command of the EM Area she was assigned to Internal Affairs.
Lt McCarthy shared with us that the new sheriff, Dan Houston, is completing a major organization. Property Crimes Unit will be added to four divisions of Patrol, Judicial, Professional Standards and Criminal Investigation.
While just assuming command, Lt McCarthy indicated that her top issues are staffing and fire evacuations. She also provided an update on the Deputy James F McGrane Jr. Building which is scheduled to open in May 2011 and will be an Emergency Operations Center for the East Mountain Fire and Sheriff Departments.

Old Business: Susan Walker and Linda Eaglefeather provided an update on the planning for the 2011 Spring Fling to be held on March 26, 2011
- Location will be the YWCA Pinon Canyon Center located next to the Tijeras Ranger Station
- Cost is $30 per individual. $50 per couple Tickets are now available at the Chamber Office in Tijeras on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, or contact Linda Eaglefeather at 505- 401-6344.
- Dinner will be an Italian Theme provided by Greenside Restaurant
- Raffle is being finalized
- Speaker, Awards, and Music are in the final planning stages
New Business: Chamber office is in transition due to set-up of a new computer. More information will be provided at the March 2011 meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer, Bob Brittain gave the balance for January 2011, as $6555.18.
Publicity: Ellen Ashcraft shared with the membership that her deadline for the Chamber Voice is February 14th and will appear in the Telegraph Newspaper on February 24th.
Drawing for Member of the Month: February 2011 Member of the Month is
the McCloud Medical Center – Cedar Crest.
