EAST MOUNTAIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Meeting Minutes - September 2, 2010
Vice-President Peggy Moeller-Mead called the meeting to order at 11:45 a.m. at the Village of Tijeras Visitor Center and Chamber Office. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, introductions were made.
In the Treasurer’s Report, Susan Walker stated that the chamber has a bank balance of $3,160.87.
Rayne McCrite from East Mountain Disposal gave the current member presentation. She and her husband, Bart started the business in 2001. They are a local East Mountain business and they provide trash containers for their customers in various sizes. Rayne stated that there are not bear resistant containers. She mentioned that if one of their customers refers someone to them, that the established customer receives one-month free service. They pick up weekly and have 9 trucks and 6 drivers.
Bob Brittain gave the new member presentation. He moved to Albuquerque in 1979 and started with service award pins, then to jewelry recognition, and choice programs.
He stated that he handles corporate recognition programs, such as working with APD to provide a recognition ring to their motorcycle officers. He works with companies to reward employees. He has Christmas ornaments that can be made for fundraisers or silkscreen T-shirts.
There was no guest speaker due to the Labor Day holiday.
Bill Walters announced that the golf tournament is on schedule for Thursday, September 9th at Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club. The goodie bags will be on the carts when the golfers arrive. The golfers will pick up their breakfast burritos at Cedar Pointe grill before they go to Paa-ko.
Bill also announced that as past-president, he is the head of the nominating committee and anyone interested on becoming a board member is to contact him. Otherwise, he will assume that everyone is interested.
Susan Walker announced that she is working on fundraisers for the chamber. The Business Mixer is tentatively scheduled for the week of the 20th of September and will also be a membership drive. The Dinner Dance will be held in the month of October. There will be recognition of past officers and a silent auction at this event.
Ellen Ashcraft with May Kay Cosmetics was drawn as business of the month. Meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m.
