EAST MOUNTAIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
General Meeting Minutes - November 4, 2010
President Jeff Burdette called the meeting to order at 11:45 a.m. at the Village of Tijeras Visitor Center and Chamber Office. Introductions followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
A vote was taken for the 2011 East Mountain Chamber of Commerce Board members.

Denise Tessier with East Mountain Historical Society gave the new member presentation. EM Historical Society was founded in 1993. and became a 501C3. They try to preserve the culture and history of the East Mountains. They are continually trying to collect oral histories of east mountain residents. They obtained a $38,000 grant, which they used to stabilize the original Catholic Church in Tijeras. They will have a planning meeting of their board on Saturday, November 11, 2010. They partner with the schools in the area and provide four public programs and two field trips a year.
Our guest speaker was Jeff Kriz of CardioRisk Laboratories. His business provides Intima Media Thickness (IMT) scans, Endo Pat- peripheral artery blood volume measurements, and medical equipment installation (lifts, ramps, etc.)
There was no Treasurer’s Report as Susan Walker was absent. Jeff informed everyone that we owe $892 to the golf tournament and the balance of the Chamber’s bank account is $1812.
Peggy Moeller-Mead announced a board meeting update, noting that they are considering a silent auction along with Breakfast with Santa. She also reminded members that they need to get more involved with the chamber activities. The Chamber needs to boost image and presence.
Paul Mendoza, chairman of Breakfast with Santa announced that the event will be held the first Saturday of December – December 4th from 8:30am –11am. The Chamber is having a silent auction. Breakfast revenue is all donations (time, money, or services). Volunteers are still needed for cleanup. He will pursue some local high school students and is waiting for a response from EMHS. There was a suggestion to scrap the pancakes due to electrical challenges and make burritos instead. Debbie McDonald from Paa-ko volunteered a crew to cook. Paul’s cell # is 980-3061. Peggy has secured a Santa for the event. Photos will be $10.
Steve Most informed the chamber members and guests that he has a revised list of ideas for the Silent Auction, such as gift certificates for services and suggest a possible raffle. There should be some items that the kids can bid on.
John Jones from Entranosa Water announced that Bernalillo County was considering a franchise fee for utilities for use of undefinedright of way‖. Now it is called an undefinedaccess fee‖. He told the chamber that everyone needs to keep an eye out for this because it will impact us all.
East Mountain Friends for Families is having their annual toy drive and there is a dire need for toys this year. Boxes will be put out around the East Mountain area around November 20th and the Chamber office will be collecting as well.
Linda Eaglefeather with Young Living Essentials Oils was drawn as the Member of the Month.
Jeff announced that sign ups for Wednesday staffing at the Visitor Center are needed. PNM wants to get involved wit the chamber. There will be a new board meeting after the lunch to place the new officers in their positions. There will be a chamber lunch in December on the 2nd.
Ellen Ashcraft announced that if Chamber members have information for the Mountain View Telegraph’s undefinedChamber Voice‖ to have in it to her by November 15th.
