General Meeting Minutes Outline
November 3, 2011
President Suzy Clay called the meeting to order at 11:45am at the Los Vecinos Community Center. There will be no December meeting due to Breakfast with Santa (BWS).
Board Members present were: Suzy Clay, Bob Brittain, and Linda Eaglefeather. Board members absent were Deea Emmons and Paul Mendoza, Peggy Moeller-Mead, and David Saegart.
Current Member Presentation: Stephanie James “What About Flowers” shared with the EMCC that on Nov 11th it will be her 5th anniversary and she loves her business and the wonderful EM customers. Her store hours are M-F 10 – 6, Sat 10 – 2. She can be contacted on 281-0156. This is the only EM full service florist and it is next to the Lazy Lizard and across from the Shell Station on N14. She has cut flowers and arrangements (her flowers last longer than others). She will also help with landscaping (Greenside Café’s garden). She also has fruit baskets and gourmet baskets available for customers. Stop by her shop and see the assortment of gifts available. She will help with decorating for the Holidays and her Florist’s open house will be Nov 11-12, 10-4pm and Nov 13, noon-4pm.
Current Member Presentation: David Luft of LDD Consulting gave us an update on his business. LDD Consulting focuses on “making technology work for you.” They will help you focus on your business not technology with Core Business Solutions, Internet Access and Security, and Network Infrastructure. LDD Web Design offers a full spectrum of Internet related services for businesses of all types and sizes. There services include: Site Design, Email Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Website Hosting, Content Management Systems and Custom Programming. Contact David at www.LDDConsulting.com.
Guest Speaker: Lori Webster of East Mountain High School was please to tell us about the wonderful, supportive EM community. EMHS is a charter school, a public school but independent of Albuquerque Public Schools. However it must follow the same rules that govern education for the state. Selection into the school is based on a lottery and there are 370 students grades 9-12 (95-100 freshmen). The class of 2010 received $1M in scholarships. Key contributors include the parents with 20,000 volunteer hours annually. The Night Under the Stars Gala ($95K) and State Farm Grant ($75K). We should all be very proud of the wonderful high school.
Old Business: Breakfast with Santa planning continues. Please have Silent Auction items to the EMCC building by Nov 28th.
The EMCC had a special thank you for Andre Dickson and all the great support from Los Vecinos Community Center. As EMCC has continued to expend in members attending the monthly luncheon, he has opened the Center to us for our meetings.
Lunch provided by Burger Boy was great!
New Business: The 2012 Board of Directors was approved by voice vote from all in attendance. The new Board is: Bob Brittain, Diane Shoudt, Bill Herman, Barb Ormand, Loretta Olson, Kara Schug, Wayne Clay.
Treasurer’s Report: Ending balance for October 2011 was $5578.86.
