MINUTES OF EMCC MONTHLY MEETING JUNE 7,2012
The meeting was called to order by President Bob Brittain at 11:50AM. Other board member present were Loretta Olson, Vice President, Diane Shoudt, Secretary, Bill Herman, Treasurer, members at large Wayne Clay, Kara Schug and Barbara Ormand.
New member presentation was by Jeffrey Harrison with Brown & Brown Insurance. This is a publically traded national company and currently insures our Chamber. There are over 160 offices nationwide. The principal is Scott Jones.
The current member presentation was given by Nathan Wildenstein from May Pharmacy. This local company started with their first pharmacy in 2001 at Louisiana & Central in Albuquerque. The company is owned by people of Asian descent. They opened a pharmacy in Cedar Crest in 2006, which specializes in nutritionals and herbs. Their Albuquerque westside pharmacy specializes in compounding their own pharmaceuticals and the Moriarty branch specializes in medical equipment. They plan to open locations in Albuquerque’s South Valley and far Northeast Heights. They will accept expired medications for proper disposition.
Guest speaker was Tex Ormand from SASS (Single action shooting society). SASS purchased the Founders Ranch in Edgewood several years ago and relocated their operations to New Mexico from California. This is an organization for people who love to fire guns of all types for fun and competition. The event coming up next is “End of the Trail” from June 16th through the 24th. This is an event that attracts people from all over the world to come and plan cowboy and cowgirl in authentic western dress of years past. There are more than 90,000 members, which include amateurs to world class competitors and their families and interested persons. The cost to join is $55.00/yr. and $45.00 renewal or $75.00 for a family. Membership includes a subscription to “Cowboy Chronicles”, a badge and an alias (such as “Tex” and “Cat Ballou”.
The treasurers report was given by Bill Herman. The month of May started with $7348.31 in the bank; income was $510 and expenses of $559.82, leaving an ending balance of $7,298.49.
Member of the month is Cedar Crest Vision.
Ellen Ashcraft announced that member Carolyn Comstock is battling leukemia and asked members to remember her in their prayers.
