Minutes of East Mountain Chamber Luncheon Meeting on January 9, 2014
The meeting was called to order at 11:47 am by President Rachel Donovan. Officers and directors present were Rachel Donovan, Kara Schug, Bill Herman, Sarah Edgell, Jose Madera, Bob Brittain, and Julie Albright, Administrator.
Acknowledgement was made to Bob Brittain for his outstanding service as chamber president the past two years by Julie Albright and Rachel Donovan was introduced as current president.
The New Member presentation was given by Tamne Robinson of One Stop Office. They are located next to Subway in Tijeras. They print business cards, calendars, etc. They are an authorized ship center for FedEx, DHL, and UPS. Other services include binding, specialty printing, free Wi-Fi, and faxes.
The Current Member presentation was given by Charles DeBuck of Exerplay. They are a commercial playground equipment supplier located in Cedar Crest. They have served New Mexico for 22 years. The company was started in 1991 by Ferrell Smith. They produce landscape structures, skate parks, playground equipment, etc. They provide 75% of Bernalillo County’s playgrounds and 80% of the city of Albuquerque playgrounds. They are working on equipment that encourages climbing and maneuvering outdoors.
The Guest Speaker was Bruce MacAllister of Business Excellence Solutions. His presentation illustrated how to communicate effectively in business settings and building important relationships. He discussed the challenges day to day in connecting with people. Chamber members and guests were asked to take an interesting and fun survey to assess and think about their communication style preferences and tendencies. Bill Herman, Treasurer reported that the chamber had a good month in December. Breakfast with Santa did fairly well. The starting balance in December was $2420 and ended up at $6000 at months end. Income was $ 5626 and expenses were $2089.
In new business, Rachel expressed that Breakfast with Santa was very good – good attendance and people enjoyed themselves. Hot Chocolate Trail received very positive feedback and did what it intended to accomplish. Cid Morgan with Sandia Ranger District spoke briefly about prescribed burnings that will take place in the near future.
The winner of the member drawing of the month was Burger Boy.
