Luncheon was held at the Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras. Board members present were Bob Brittain, Jose Madera, Kara Schug, Liz Morantes, Barbara Ormand, and Julie Albright.
President Bob Brittain called the meeting to order at 11:50 am and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A Wednesday sign up sheet for volunteers to man the Tijeras Visitors Center was passed. Bob Brittain made a sad announcement that Wayne Clay, Board Member at Large, died of a heart attack September 2. Wayne’s memorial service is Saturday, September 7 at the Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque. The Chamber sends its condolences to Suzy Clay and family.
Bob Brittain also gave the Treasurer’s Report. Bank balance is $4405.07. Income for August was $310 and expenses were $2084.33 for a net loss of $1774.33. Some expenses for September were paid the end of August, i.e., administrator’s salary and two month’s rent. We are still ahead of last year.
Breakfast with Santa on December 7 still need volunteers for committees. Sheets for committee sign ups were circulated to the members. Decoration day for the gym will be December 6 at 2 pm.

Guest speaker: Judy Vrendenburg of Friends of the Tijeras Pueblo. Tijeras Pueblo is the remains of an ancient pueblo situated near the Tijeras Ranger Station. Settled about 1313 the same time as other pueblos, the Tijeras Pueblo contains no Spanish artifacts. It was located on North, East, South, and West trade routes and archaeological excavations in the 1970 produced 600 boxes of artifacts stored at the Maxwell Museum on the UNM campus. Friends of Tijeras Pueblo catalogued those artifacts the last two years.
New member presentation: Nancy Carpenter of Automated Systems. Automated Computer Systems has been in business since 2002 and is a complete IT systems repair and development shop. They are located in Cedar Crest at 12129 Highway 14 North, Suite 12B. Telephone-505-281-2393.
New member presentation: David Gonzales, Marketing Development Manager of Century Link Communications. Century Link is involved in communications for businesses and consumers, wholesale, and data hosting. The company wants to be the leader in cloud computing services. It is also the third largest telephone co behind Verizon & AT&T. Century Link is an $18 billion company also involved in local community activities such as supporting food banks.
New business: Nominations for 2014 Board Members are needed for the November meeting.
The Ciudad Conservation District is sponsoring a green waste event September 28-October 6th. Green waste can be deposited free at the Tijeras transfer station during that time.
The East Mountain Celebration will be held October 6 from 12-4 pm at the Los Vecinos Community Center sponsored by Bernalillo County.
Member of the month drawing was Kefauver CPA.
