ENCHANTED SKIES STAR PARTY 2019
Attracts From Across the Nation and Beyond
Magdalena, New Mexico, USA - October 22nd thru 26th - New Mexico's leading public astronomy event expects to follow last year's record-breaking turnout.
Now in its 26th year, New Mexico's Enchanted Skies Star Party (ESSP) will run October 22-26, 2019 outside the Village of Magdalena in Cibola National Forest offering a five-night camp-out experience with large telescopes, dark skies, educational lectures, and tours of the region's unusual astronomical facilities. The program is organized annually by Magdalena Astronomical Society, Inc., in collaboration with New Mexico Tech, National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Magdalena Ridge Observatory, supporting area businesses and organizations, and other regional astronomy clubs like the Albuquerque Astronomical Society.
"We want astronomers to discover the Route 60 corridor as a great place to come for astronomy and to understand why we call New Mexico the 'Land of Enchantment."
Participants are welcome to look through telescopes set up specifically for introductory public viewing and to enjoy presentations designed to inform and entertain people of all ages and experience. But like last year, some visitors will travel cross-country and even internationally with advanced equipment to photograph the night sky. The technical program will include how-to lectures explaining topics ranging from exploring the sky by naked eye, binoculars, and small telescopes, to using more specialized electronic equipment and techniques for celestial imaging.
Registration starts August 1, 2019 for the first 125 participants.More information at: enchantedskies.org
