This morning there is no change in the Pino Fire. Matt Rau, Sandia Ranger District FMO, contacted us this morning with the following information. Smoke will be visible (especially from the west side of Sandia Peak) for the next several days. Fire fighting crews have established access to the fire, but at this time they will only monitor the fire since no change has been detected on the fire, and it is extremely dangerous (due to the location of the fire) for personnel.
U.S. Forest Service crews are aware and on-site at this fire. Please do not call 911 to report this fire. The 911 service has dispatched crews and they are on this fire. Unless you have a new fire start to report, please do not report this fire to 911 again.
That being said, EMIFPA always encourages you to stay engaged and prepared for the potential wildfire disaster in our homeland. Remember, if you see or smell smoke, always call 911 immediately. Report it, don't ignore it!!
