EMIFPA Fire Info - October 28, 2016: announcements

10/28/2016 10:18 AM | Nancy Carpenter

EM Residents,

Bernalillo County Commissioner Wayne Johnson has announced free Green Waste Days. The final free Green Waste week for 2016 is scheduled for November 12 - 20. This is week after next. It starts on a Saturday (November 12th), and runs the whole week to the following Sunday (November 20th).

As always, the first loads can be made at 8 am, and you must be in line by 4 pm for the last load. Drop offs are made at the East Mountain Transfer Station on Old Route 66 east of Tijeras. Also, PLEASE cover your load properly. There is enough trash on our roads. Don't add to this hazardous and ugly situation.

Free Green Waste Days are brought to you by Bernalillo County Commissioner Wayne Johnson and Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District. We East Mountain residents appreciate all that Commissioner Johnson and Ciudad are doing for us and our efforts to create defensible space.

This is an ideal time to nibble away at your defensible space projects. Get ready for next year's wildfire season now by working on defensible space early. The long term forecast indicates low precipitation levels and above average temperatures through at least April. These forecasts point towards an early start to next year's fire season. Get ready now, don't wait.
